Preview: Cesar Chavez Champions vs. Tolleson Wolverines
Cesar Chavez has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Tolleson Wolverines at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Tolleson took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Cesar Chavez, who comes in off a win.
Cesar Chavez can now show off 14 landslide victories after their most recent game on Tuesday. They blew past Maricopa, posting a 56-19 victory at home. Given Cesar Chavez's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while the Rams are ranked 218th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Lakeisha Robinson, who scored 19 points along with seven steals and five rebounds. Sophia Doromal was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Tolleson was beaten by the Monsoon 86-23 on Tuesday.
Cesar Chavez's victory bumped their record up to 16-3. As for Tolleson, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Cesar Chavez against the Wolverines in their previous matchup back in November of 2023 as the team secured a 90-22 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cesar Chavez since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
