Baseball Recap: St. Bernard-Elmwood Place Drops Season-High Score on Stivers School for the Arts

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask St. Bernard-Elmwood Place). They never let the Stivers School for the Arts Tigers get on the board and left with a 30-0 victory on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Titans, who have now won seven matches by ten runs or more so far this season.

Keenan Derrenkamp made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Derrenkamp was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those four runs gave him a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Evan Hovenga looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

Back at the plate, Jason Helphinstein was a standout: he went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nathan Schulte, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI.

St. Bernard-Elmwood Place was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .654. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

St. Bernard-Elmwood Place has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. As for Stivers School for the Arts, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Bernard-Elmwood Place will welcome Gamble Montessori at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Stivers School for the Arts, they will host Trotwood-Madison at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
