Basketball Recap: Calhoun Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Calhoun and Dougherty squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Calhoun had to settle for second. They took a 64-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Dougherty Trojans. The Yellow Jackets' defeat signaled the end of their 12-game winning streak.

Calhoun's loss came despite strong showings from Trey Perkins and Trace Hawkins. Perkins almost dropped a double-double with 15 points and nine boards, while Hawkins went 6-for-15 to rack up 18 points. Hawkins' evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Jaxon Moore was another key player, putting up eight points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Calhoun smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Kaleke Singletary-Jinks had a dynamite game for Dougherty, going 7-for-15 on his way to 23 points and seven boards. The dominant performance gave Singletary-Jinks a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jawuan Jinks Jr, who posted 12 points.

Calhoun's loss dropped their record down to 20-4. As for Dougherty, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 19-10.

Calhoun does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Dougherty, they have already played their next match, a 78-66 defeat against Windsor Forest on the 26th.
