Basketball Recap: Southeast Halifax Takes a Loss

Southeast Halifax was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They had to suffer through a 80-34 loss at the hands of the North Edgecombe Warriors. The Trojans were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-20.

Several Trojans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was O'Tavion Arrington, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 11 points.

North Edgecombe's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jamauri Cannady, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 15 rebounds. With that strong performance, Cannady is now averaging an impressive 8.4 boards per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Zyquarius Cherry, who posted 14 points along with seven boards and six assists.

Southeast Halifax's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for North Edgecombe, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.

Southeast Halifax will face off against Northampton County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Northampton County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.1 points per game this season. As for North Edgecombe, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 81-50 loss against Tarboro on the 4th.
