Softball Preview: Cypress Bay Lightning vs. South Plantation Paladins
The Cypress Bay Lightning will head out on the road to square off against the South Plantation Paladins at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
On Friday, Cypress Bay made easy work of Pompano Beach and carried off a 10-2 win. The victory was just what Cypress Bay needed coming off of a 13-2 loss in their prior game.
Ayden Ballard spent all seven innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits.
At the plate, Cypress Bay let Ana Rincon and Teresa Foschia loose on the outfield. Cypress Bay's win bumped their record up to 5-6. As for South Plantation, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-2.
Cypress Bay skirted past South Plantation 9-8 when the teams last played back in March of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cypress Bay since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
