Basketball Game Preview: Rio Hondo Bobcats vs. Raymondville Bearkats

Rio Hondo and Raymondville are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Rio Hondo Bobcats will finish 2024 at home by hosting the Raymondville Bearkats at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Rio Hondo will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

Rio Hondo will bounce into Saturday's game after beating Santa Rosa, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The stars were shining brightly for Rio Hondo in a 65-47 victory over Santa Rosa on Friday.

Meanwhile, Raymondville was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 46-41 to Lyford.

Rio Hondo now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Raymondville, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 10-5.

Rio Hondo didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Raymondville when the teams last played back in November of 2023, but they still walked away with a 54-48 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Raymondville's Jacob Garza, who went 8 for 13 on his way to 21 points and four steals.
