Basketball Recap: First Baptist Finds Playoff Glory Versus Nazarene Christian Academy

It's playoff time, and First Baptist had no trouble coming through when it counted. They strolled past the Nazarene Christian Academy Lions with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 61-45. Given the Saints' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 359th, while the Lions are ranked 1115th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Micah Foster, who went 5-for-10 en route to 18 points and seven assists. He is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jett Stamps, who went 6-for-11 to rack up 14 points.

First Baptist has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.3 points over those games. Nazarene Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 16-16.

Coming up, First Baptist will face off against Victory Christian Academy at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Victory Christian Academy will roll in looking for their 17th straight win, something First Baptist surely won't give up without a fight. Nazarene Christian Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
