Even though it knocked off top-ranked Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth) in the finals of The Classic at Damien. boys tournament last week, Rancho Christian (Temecula) sits No. 3 in this week's MaxPreps California Top 25 boys basketball computer rankings.

Dominick Harris scored a game-high 30 points in Rancho Christian's thrilling 85-81 overtime win over the Trailblazers on Dec. 30 before a packed house in La Verne.

The game marked the debut of 5-star recruit Ziaire Williams for Sierra Canyon and the 6-foot-7 guard didn't disappoint with 28 points, including a bucket in the final seconds of regulation to send the game to overtime. But there Harris along with the national's No. 1 recruit Evan Mobley (16 points, 15 rebounds) took over while handing the Trailblazers, who also got 26 points by Kentucky-bound  Brandon Boston, Jr., their first loss of the season after 14 straight wins.

The loss might have taken something out of Sierra Canyon, which followed up five days later, losing 78-58 at Minnehaha Academy (Minneapolis, Minn.), which got 23 points from Gonzaga-bound Jalen Suggs. Boston had 27 to lead Sierra Canyon.

Despite those defeats, 12 double-digit victories evidently helped keep the Trailblazers in the top spot, followed by Centennial (Corona) and Rancho Christian. Centennial (14-2) is No. 9 in the Xcellent 25 national rankings and Rancho Christian (15-2) is No. 11.

On Nov. 30, Centennial defeated Rancho Christian 70-62.

Sierra Canyon has a shot of redemption Saturday when it faces Rancho Christian Saturday at Pasadena City College. Before that, Rancho Christian plays at a San Ysidro (San Diego) team Friday that features the highest scoring freshman in the nation in 6-3 point guard Mikey Williams, who has games of 77, 51 and 50 points this season. As of Tuesday, he averages 32.6 points per game.
