Desert Heights Prep took a 16-run loss the last time they faced off against Antelope, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Desert Heights Prep had just enough and edged out Antelope 9-8. The win was some much needed relief for the Yote as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Nicole Bryan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and six unearned) runs on six hits.

On the hitting side, Desert Heights Prep let Bayli Johnson and Florence Peterson run wild. Johnson scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances, while Peterson scored a run while going 1-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Zoi Von Tobel, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of her five plate appearances.

Desert Heights Prep's victory bumped their record up to 2-6. As for Antelope, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-3 record.

Coming up, Desert Heights Prep will be playing at home against Ray at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Ray has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.47 runs per game on average), something Desert Heights Prep will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Antelope, they will venture away from home to challenge Sequoia Pathway Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
