Softball Recap: Herrin Victorious

While Herrin's win against Nashville wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Herrin skirted past Nashville 12-11. The Tigers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Hornets on Wednesday, too.

Sophia Schramm was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed eight innings while giving up five earned (and six unearned) runs off 13 hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-5.

In other batting news, Branson Hill and Remy James did most of the damage at the plate: Hill went 3-for-5 with one home run and three RBI, while James scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Those four runs gave James a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gigi George, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Herrin kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 2-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Herrin moved to 3-3 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Nashville, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Herrin wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, an 18-6 defeat against Anna-Jonesboro on the 29th. As for Nashville, they have also already played their next matchup, a 14-4 loss against Sparta on the 28th.
