Baseball Recap: Somerville Takes a Loss

Somerville had lost three straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 1-6 to make it four. They fell 3-0 to the Lynn Classical Rams. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Highlanders of the 7-6 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

As for Lynn Classical, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games.

For Lynn Classical's part, Somerville's batters probably weren't too happy with Christian Figueroa, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 14 Ks (he gave up two walks). With that strong performance, Figueroa is now averaging an impressive 6 strikeouts per game.

At the plate, Lynn Classical saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gavin Collins, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI.

Looking ahead, Somerville will challenge Revere at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday. As for Lynn Classical, they will venture away from home to challenge Chelsea at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday. The Rams are facing the Red Devils at the right time seeing as the Red Devils are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
