Basketball Recap: Joplin Takes a Loss

Joplin lost against Republic back in January of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Joplin Eagles took a blow against the Republic Tigers, falling 72-44. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 144th, while the Tigers are ranked 17th).

Joplin has also traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season. As for Republic, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Joplin will square off against Carthage at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Republic, they will challenge Kickapoo at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Republic's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight matchups.
