Baseball Recap: Morris Central/Edmeston Central Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Morris Central/Edmeston Central, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They walked away with a 10-7 win over the Gilboa-Conesville Central Wildcats on Tuesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for Morris Central/Edmeston Central considering their two-run performance the game before.

Gavin McEnroe made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Morris Central/Edmeston Central is undefeated when McEnroe posts two or more runs, but 3-4 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Landon Wust, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Camden Graham, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Morris Central/Edmeston Central is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for Gilboa-Conesville Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.

Coming up, Morris Central/Edmeston Central will face off against Schenevus Central at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Gilboa-Conesville Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
