Volleyball Game Preview: Rancho Rams vs. Cimarron-Memorial Spartans

After both having extra time off, the Rancho Rams and the Cimarron-Memorial Spartans will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with nine consecutive losses for Rancho and three for Cimarron-Memorial.

Rancho lost 3-0 to Bishop Gorman on Tuesday.

The loss didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Bishop Gorman scored at least 17 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-18, 25-17.

Meanwhile, Cimarron-Memorial faced Bishop Gorman in a battle between two of the state's top teams last Thursday. The Spartans fell 3-1 to the Gaels. While the Spartans didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Gaels 25-13 in the first set.

Cimarron-Memorial started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 13-25, 25-22, 25-18, 25-19.

Cimarron-Memorial's defeat dropped their record down to 18-16. As for Rancho, their loss dropped their record down to 4-9.

Rancho suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Cimarron-Memorial when the teams last played on April 2nd. Can the Rams avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
