Preview: Monarch Knights vs. Coral Springs Charter Panthers
The Monarch Knights will head out on the road to take on the Coral Springs Charter Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Monarch focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Tuesday.
Monarch unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak. They received a tough blow as they fell 56-42 to Northeast. While losing is never fun, Monarch can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 373rd, while Northeast is ranked 73rd).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Jamir Davis, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Samari Reed, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Coral Springs Charter, who are still winless after their 14th matchup. Their rough 43-20 defeat to Don Soffer Aventura on Thursday might stick with them for a while. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Coral Springs Charter has scored all season.
Monarch's record now sits at 6-8. As for Coral Springs Charter, they bumped their record down to 0-14 with that loss, which was their 11th straight on the road.
Monarch was able to grind out a solid victory over Coral Springs Charter in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, winning 53-46. The rematch might be a little tougher for Monarch since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
