Preview: Springboro Panthers vs. St. Xavier Bombers
The Springboro Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the St. Xavier Bombers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Springboro will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 156th, while St. Xavier is ranked 25th).
After soaring to 40 points the game before, Springboro were a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They fell 21-9 to Miamisburg.
Meanwhile, St. Xavier had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They came out on top against Trinity Catholic by a score of 21-8. 21 seems to be a good number for St. Xavier as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
St. Xavier got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Steven Napier out in front who rushed for 63 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries, and also caught a touchdown. St. Xavier also got a significant boost from Jacob Britt, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 124 yards.
Springboro has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-8 record this season. As for St. Xavier, their win was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 6-4.
