Softball Recap: Citrus Valley Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Citrus Valley hadn't done well against Beaumont recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Blackhawks walked away with a 7-4 victory over the Cougars. The win was familiar territory for the Blackhawks, who have now won four matchups in a row.

Monse Matute was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Leah Leivas, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Citrus Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive games.

Citrus Valley's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-10. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Beaumont, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-10.
