Softball Recap: Umatilla Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Umatilla can now relate to. They fell just short of the Taylor Wildcats by a score of 7-5 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Bulldogs have suffered since March 6th.

Umatilla saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mittie O'Brien, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one triple. Another was Brook Thomas, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Umatilla's loss dropped their record down to 8-15. As for Taylor, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season.

Umatilla does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Taylor, they will face off against Trinity Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Celtics' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Wildcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
