Basketball Game Preview: Dunedin Falcons vs. Hudson Cobras

Dunedin hasn't had much luck against Hudson recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Dunedin Falcons will head out to take on the Hudson Cobras at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in Dunedin's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last nine matchups.

Dunedin is headed into the game having just posted their biggest victory since December 5, 2024 on Saturday. They breezed by St. Petersburg Catholic to the tune of 73-44. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 262nd, while the Barons are ranked 548th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for DEONTE MACK, who shot 6-for-7 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 32 points and 11 boards. He is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last eight games he's played. Another player making a difference was SHERWIN SIMMONS, who posted five points in addition to 11 rebounds, eight assists, and six steals.

Dunedin smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 33 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in 15 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hudson). The stars were shining brightly for them in an 84-67 win over Weeki Wachee back in December of 2024. The victory was some much needed relief for the Cobras as it spelled an end to their seven-game losing streak.

Dunedin has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.8 points per game. As for Hudson, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-11.

Dunedin lost to Hudson on the road by a decisive 64-45 margin in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Can Dunedin avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
