Basketball Recap: Portage Christian Comes Up Short

Portage Christian played a tough matchup on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 73-17 defeat at the hands of the Hammond Academy of Science & Tech Hawks. The loss continues a trend for Portage Christian in their matchups with Hammond Academy of Science & Tech: they've now lost five in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hammond Academy of Science & Tech to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jeffery Patton, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 11 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Patton a new career-high in points. Gabriel Reyes was another key player, dropping a triple-double on 14 points, ten boards, and 14 assists.

Portage Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Hammond Academy of Science & Tech, their win bumped their record up to 5-12.

Portage Christian will welcome HomeSchool Resource Center at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Hammond Academy of Science & Tech, they will head out on the road to challenge Tri-Township at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hammond Academy of Science & Tech is facing Tri-Township at the right time seeing as Tri-Township is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
