Basketball Game Preview: Buchtel Griffins vs. Glenville Tarblooders

The Buchtel Griffins will challenge the Glenville Tarblooders at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.

Buchtel is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They came out on top against Jefferson Area by a score of 54-44. Given the Griffins' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 62nd, while the Falcons are ranked 245th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Glenville strolled past Streetsboro with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 54-40.

Glenville's win was their 20th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.7 points over those games. As for Buchtel, their victory bumped their record up to 18-7.

Buchtel came up short against Glenville when the teams last played back in March of 2024, falling 65-58. Can Buchtel avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
