Basketball Preview: Valley Vikings vs. Bernalillo Spartans
The Valley Vikings will be playing at home against the Bernalillo Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Saturday.
Last Saturday, Valley didn't have too much trouble with the Cougars at home as they won 59-41. The win made it back-to-back wins for Valley.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Valley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tayton Gomez, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gomez has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nevaeh Richardson, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Bernalillo had to suffer through a rough 62-30 loss at the hands of the Chargers. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Bernalillo has scored all season.
Valley's victory bumped their record up to 8-12. As for Bernalillo, they now have a losing record at 10-11.
Everything came up roses for Valley against the Spartans in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 as the team secured a 57-29 win. With Valley ahead 29-7 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
