Burleson hadn't done well against Centennial recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Elks walked away with a 5-1 victory over the Spartans. Winning may never get old, but the Elks sure are getting used to it with their seventh in a row.

Ryan Hovland spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Daelyn Gonzales, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI. Lanie Bedwell was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

Burleson pushed their record up to 21-5 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 8.6 runs. As for Centennial, with the loss, they broke their seven-game winning streak and moved their record to 21-7.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Burleson will take on rival Joshua at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Centennial is set to challenge their familiar foe Mansfield Timberview at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
