Baseball Preview: Leon Cougars vs. Lovelady Lions

Leon and Lovelady are an even 4-4 against one another since February of 2015, but likely not for long. The Leon Cougars are on the road again on Tuesday to play the Lovelady Lions at 12:00 p.m.

Last Tuesday, it was a hard-fought match, but Leon had to settle for an 8-6 loss against Centerville. Leon has not had much luck with Centerville recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Meanwhile, in what's become a running theme this season, Lovelady gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. Everything went their way against Grapeland as Lovelady made off with an 8-0 victory. The win was familiar territory for Lovelady who now have three in a row.

Tyler Gilchrist spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just zero earned runs on six hits and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, Case Pennington was excellent, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Lance Pierce, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI.

Leon now has a losing record at 9-10. As for Lovelady, their victory bumped their record up to 14-7.

Everything went Leon's way against Lovelady in their previous matchup back in March as Leon made off with a 10-3 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Leon since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
