Basketball Recap: Kaleb Gee's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Davis Sr. over Rocklin

Davis Sr. was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They came up short against the Rocklin Thunder, falling 64-40. While losing is never fun, the Blue Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 597th, while the Thunder are ranked 71st).

Davis Sr.'s loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kaleb Gee, who posted eight points and three steals. That's the most steals Gee has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Nico Dunn, who had six points.

Leading Rocklin to victory were Mark Lavrenov and Connor Bow. Lavrenov dropped a double-double with 15 points and 16 boards, while Bow scored ten points in addition to six rebounds and four steals. Lavrenov's evening made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Connor Delaby, who put up ten points.

Davis Sr.'s defeat dropped their record down to 6-21. As for Rocklin, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 19-8 record this season.

Davis Sr. didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 78-57 loss against Jesuit on the 14th. As for Rocklin, they have also already played their next game, a 77-46 victory against Whitney on the 14th.
