Briar Woods beats Lightridge for their third straight win

Recap: Briar Woods Falcons vs. Lightridge Bolts

The Briar Woods Falcons had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They strolled past Lightridge with points to spare, taking the game 34-20. Briar Woods pushed the score to 34-7 by the end of the third, a deficit Lightridge cut but never quite recovered from.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Briar Woods to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brady Carmical, who threw for 175 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 passes. Briar Woods also got help from Colin Capistrant who showed off his sure hands for 116 receiving yards.

Carter Working and Al Honesty certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Working threw for 306 yards and three touchdowns, while Honesty picked up 123 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Briar Woods' win was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 7-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 31.5 points per game. As for Lightridge, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-4.

Briar Woods is on the road again on Friday and play against Stone Bridge at 7:00 p.m. on October 27th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Virginia (Stone Bridge is ranked 21st, while Briar Woods is ranked 38th). As for Lightridge, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Riverside at 7:00 p.m. Riverside is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
