Volleyball Recap: Yuma Takes a Loss

Yuma was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Caliche Buffaloes. The Outlaws were not able to make up for their loss to the Buffaloes from their previous meeting back in September of 2024.

Yuma took Caliche into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking seven-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 25-23, 25-21, 20-25, 15-8.

Lindsey Hermosillo paced Yuma's offense, picking up 12 kills. Hermosillo got some help from Bailey Nighswonger and her 22 assists. Taryn Sheffield controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Yuma's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Caliche, the win keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Yuma will face off against Brush at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Caliche, they will be playing at home against Weldon Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
