Baseball Recap: Newton County Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Newton County proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by ten) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the St. Andrew's Episcopal Saints 9-7. That's more bragging rights for the Cougars, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

The victory (which was Newton County's third in a row) raised their record to 3-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 9.7 runs this season. As for St. Andrew's Episcopal, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Newton County will head out to take on Mize at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for St. Andrew's Episcopal, they are headed away from home for the first time to face off against Pearl at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
