Volleyball Recap: Lakeside Beats Aquinas for Their Fifth Straight Win

Lakeside had already won four in a row and they went ahead and made it five on Monday. They came out on top against the Aquinas Fightin' Irish by a score of 2-0. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Lakeside took both sets by at least 16 points. The final score came out to 25-9, 25-8.

Emily Jost paced Lakeside's offense, picking up five kills. Jost got some help from Avery Miller and her ten assists. Miller was also solid from the service line: she led the team with nine aces.

Lakeside's win bumped their record up to 22-3. As for Aquinas, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-9 record this season.

Coincidentally, Lakeside and Aquinas will both be playing North Augusta the next time they take the court. The Fightin' Irish will host the Yellow Jackets at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, while the Panthers will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
