The Douglass Astros will venture away from home to face off against the Riverdale Raiders at 5:55 p.m. on Wednesday. Douglass has given up an average of 9.9 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Douglass is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 15 runs on Monday, they were much more limited against Stephenson on Tuesday. They came up short against the Jaguars, falling 12-1. The Astros have struggled against the Jaguars recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Jamarius Glover made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. He has been hot, having posted two or more stolen bases the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Anthony Alexander, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases.
Meanwhile, Riverdale came tearing into Monday's match with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Saints a 20-0 shutout. The Raiders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by six runs or more this season.
Jacob Rachmann was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over four innings pitched. Rachmann was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two triples, three runs, and four RBI. Those two triples gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Keith Demps was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with five stolen bases, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Crittenden, who scored three runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-3.
Riverdale always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .722. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Riverdale pushed their record up to 10-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Douglass, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-10.
Wednesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Douglass has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .524. However, it's not like Riverdale struggles in that department as they've averaged .522. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
