The Northern Cambria Colts are taking a road trip to challenge the Moshannon Valley Black Knights/Damsels at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Northern Cambria will be strutting in after a win while Moshannon Valley will be coming in after a loss.
Northern Cambria is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Blacklick Valley 22-7 on Friday. With that victory, the Colts brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.
Megan Lubert was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. Braelyn Pattison was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
Northern Cambria always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .674. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Moshannon Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Glendale.
Ava Robison was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
The win made it two in a row for Northern Cambria and bumps their season record up to 8-11. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 20.0 runs over those games. As for Moshannon Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 5-12.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Northern Cambria has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Moshannon Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
