Basketball Recap: Fairview Knights vs. Fossil Ridge SaberCats
The Fairview Knights lost against the Fossil Ridge SaberCats back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The game between Fairview and the SaberCats wasn't particularly close, with the Knights falling 43-28. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Fairview in their matchups with the SaberCats: they've now lost eight in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Fairview lost, one person who can't be blamed is Danae Addison-taylor. Despite the final result, she scored 11 points along with two blocks. Chloe Hickory was another key contributor, scoring six points along with two steals.
Fairview struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Fossil Ridge to victory, but perhaps none more so than Elli Johnson, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds and four steals. Another player making a difference was Natalie Lin, who scored 11 points along with five assists and two steals.
Fairview has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. As for Fossil Ridge, they pushed their record up to 9-7 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home.
Fairview will head out on the road to take on the Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Colorado (Boulder is ranked 142nd, while the Knights are ranked 160th). As for Fossil Ridge, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Spartans at 1:00 p.m. on January 27th. Hopefully Berthoud focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 last Thursday.
