Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Alexander Greenfield and Landon Kelly Lead Northwest to Victory

Northwest saw some tournament action on Friday. They strolled past the Linganore Lancers with points to spare, taking the game 73-57.

Leading Northwest to victory were Landon Kelly and Alexander Greenfield. Kelly went 8 of 12 on his way to 20 points and five steals, while Greenfield dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten boards. Greenfield has been hot, having also posted three or more steals the last five times he's played. Henry Hecklinger was another key player, putting up ten points and six rebounds.

Several Lancers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brandon Donaldson, who went 6 of 15 on his way to 22 points and seven assists. The dominant performance gave Donaldson a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Hodgson, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds.

Northwest has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. As for Linganore, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northwest will venture away from home to face off against Clarksburg at 7:15 p.m. on January 3, 2025. Northwest knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully Clarksburg likes a good challenge. As for Linganore, they will head out to challenge South Hagerstown at 7:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. Linganore is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.7 points per game this season.
