Baseball Recap: Dover-Sherborn Beats Groton-Dunstable for Their Fourth Straight Victory

It's playoff time, and Dover-Sherborn had no trouble coming through when it counted. They walked away with a 7-3 win over the Groton-Dunstable Crusaders on Thursday. Winning may never get old, but the Raiders sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Jackson Shusda made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Dover-Sherborn let Will Forman and Peyton Shusda run wild. Forman went 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Shusda went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Matt Bowen, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Dover-Sherborn's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-8. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Groton-Dunstable, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-9 record.

Looking ahead, Dover-Sherborn will take on Sandwich on Monday. The Blue Knights will roll in looking for their 13th straight victory, something the Raiders surely won't give up without a fight. Groton-Dunstable does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
