Baseball Game Preview: Parker Thundering Herd vs. Altamont Knights

The Parker Thundering Herd will head out to face off against the Altamont Knights at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Altamont will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Parker extended their winning streak to three on Thursday. The Thundering Herd were the clear victors by a 17-2 margin over Jackson-Olin.

Courterius Bedgood and Jordan Willis made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Bedgood tossed 2.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs but no hits. Meanwhile, Willis pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. At the plate, Bedgood scored two runs and stole four bases while going 1-for-3, while Willis scored two runs and stole five bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. What's more, Willis posted two hits, the most he's had since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Terrion Nevels was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Conellrious Scott was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Parker kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Altamont waltzed into their contest on Friday with five straight wins... but they left with six. Everything went their way against the Lions as they made off with a 20-7 win.

Altamont pushed their record up to 15-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.5 runs over those games. As for Parker, their record is now 16-13.

Parker suffered a grim 6-0 defeat to Altamont when the teams last played back in February. Can the Thundering Herd avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
