Football Recap: Washington-Wilkes Takes a Loss

Washington-Wilkes played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by the Lincoln County Red Devils and fell 42-7. The Tigers haven't had much luck with the Red Devils recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Despite the loss, Washington-Wilkes had strong showings from Shariq Meadows, who picked up 118 receiving yards and one touchdown, and Mayson Mingle, who threw for 266 yards and one TD while completing 77.4% of his passes.

Jonathan Norman had a dynamite game For Lincoln County., rushing for 89 yards and three scores on only five carries. That's the most rushing touchdowns Norman has posted since back in November of 2024. Mekhi Wade was another major influence, as he rushed for 29 yards and ran in a TD.

Washington-Wilkes' record now sits at 3-5. As for Lincoln County, the win keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.

Washington-Wilkes wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 35-28 victory against Greene County on the 17th. As for Lincoln County, they have also already played their next contest, a 41-3 win against Lake Oconee Academy on the 17th.
