Recap: Williamsville North Spartans vs. Orchard Park Quakers
The Williamsville North Spartans pushed their score all the way to 62 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Orchard Park by a score of 64-62. While losing is never fun, Williamsville North can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 396th, while Orchard Park is ranked 153rd).
Orchard Park got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Maggie Gocella out in front who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds. Those 19 points set a new season-high mark for her. Halle Senfield was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with nine rebounds and five assists.
Williamsville North are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.3 points per game. As for Orchard Park, their victory bumped their record up to 7-5.
Coincidentally, Williamsville North and Orchard Park will both be playing Clarence the next time they take the court. Williamsville North will head out to face Clarence at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while Orchard Park will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
