Softball Recap: Waukesha North Comes Up Short

Waukesha North extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 3-12 in the process. They came up short against the Oconomowoc Raccoons, falling 10-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Raccoons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-0 back in April.

As for Oconomowoc, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games.

For Oconomowoc's part, Kayla Glidewell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, Carli Moldenhauer and Finnley Bolson did most of the damage at the plate: Moldenhauer went 3-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Bolson got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that Moldenhauer has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamryn Stoltz, who went 2-for-5 with two RBI and one double.

Looking ahead, Waukesha North will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Cambria-Friesland at 10:00 a.m. The Hilltoppers will roll in looking for their 12th straight win, something the Northstars surely won't give up without a fight. As for Oconomowoc, they will venture away from home to square off against Hartford at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
