Softball Game Preview: Ware Shoals Hornets vs. Abbeville Panthers

The Ware Shoals Hornets will head out to challenge the Abbeville Panthers at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Ware Shoals is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.5 runs per game this season.

Ware Shoals couldn't beat Whitmire on Tuesday even though they stacked five runs on them in the seventh inning. The Hornets fell just short of the Wolverines by a score of 9-8. The Hornets have struggled against the Wolverines recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost meeting.

Paisley Pelfrey made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with four RBI and one triple. Another player making a difference was Bella Davis, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Abbeville made easy work of Thornwell on Friday and carried off a 13-5 win. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won nine matches by eight runs or more so far this season.

Abbeville's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-8. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.0 runs over those games. As for Ware Shoals, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-7.

Ware Shoals suffered a grim 17-7 defeat to Abbeville in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Hornets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
