Sand Point skates past Tanalian with ease

Recap: Sand Point Eagles/Lady Eagles vs. Tanalian Lynx

The Sand Point Eagles/Lady Eagles's five-game losing streak came to an end on Saturday. They breezed by Tanalian on the road to the tune of 67-37. Sand Point's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Rowdy Tripp was his usual excellent self, scoring 15 points along with eight assists and eight rebounds. That's the first time this season that he posted eight or more assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Hawk Jackson, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and five steals.

Despite the loss, Tanalian saw an underclassman step up: Erik McGee scored 13 points. Noah Davis was another key contributor, scoring eight points.

Sand Point's victory bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Tanalian, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season.

Sand Point will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Chief Ivan Blunka at 3:00 p.m. on January 27th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Alaska (Chief Ivan Blunka is ranked 90th, while Sand Point is ranked 70th). Tanalian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
