Recap: Rockmart Yellowjackets vs. Union County Panthers

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the Rockmart Yellowjackets walked away with it. They took their contest at home on Friday with ease, bagging a 56-14 victory over Union County. The win was nothing new for Rockmart as they're now sitting on nine straight.

Among those leading the charge was Calliyon Thompson, who threw for 146 yards and four touchdowns while completing 84.6% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Tristan Anderson, who picked up 59 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Union County's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Jensen Goble, who picked up 128 receiving yards and a touchdown. Goble is on a roll when it comes to receiving yards, as he's now posted 100 or more in the last three games he's played.

Even if they lost, Union County's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. David Heredia was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two sacks himself.

Rockmart's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 49.6 points per game. As for Union County, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-4.

Rockmart's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Toombs County at 7:30 p.m. on November 24th. Toombs County knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four games -- so hopefully Rockmart likes a good challenge. Union County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
