Baseball Game Preview: Ponaganset Chieftains vs. East Greenwich Avengers

The Ponaganset Chieftains will head out to take on the East Greenwich Avengers at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Ponaganset is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.

Ponaganset came into this matchup off a tough eight-run loss on Tuesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Central by a score of 3-1 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Chieftains have suffered since April 8th.

Meanwhile, East Greenwich was able to grind out a solid win over Prout on Saturday, taking the game 7-4. That's two games straight that the Avengers have won by exactly three runs.

East Greenwich's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-7. As for Ponaganset, their loss dropped their record down to 6-9.

Ponaganset came up short against East Greenwich in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 4-0. Can the Chieftains avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
