Basketball Recap: Morgan Park's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Morgan Park had won two straight games and Nasir Rankin did his part to make it three on Thursday. The Morgan Park Mustangs really took it to the Harlan Falcons for the full four quarters, racking up a 110-51 victory thanks in part to Rankin, who went 18 of 32 on his way to 54 points and seven steals. His evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Pierre Stevenson Jr., who posted six points and 12 steals. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 3.2 steals per game.

Harlan's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jameel Patterson, who put up 18 points. Elijah Laster was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Morgan Park's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-2. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 88.7 points per game. As for Harlan, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Morgan Park wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 75-59 defeat against Benton Harbor on the 14th. As for Harlan, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 79-35 loss against Christian Fenger Academy on the 17th.
