Basketball Recap: Calvary Christian Academy's Win Ends Eight-Game Losing Streak at Home

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Calvary Christian Academy). They came out on top against the Concord Christian Academy Minutemen by a score of 58-47 on Thursday. For the LIONS, this counts as revenge for the 37-34 win the Minutemen walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2024.

Calvary Christian Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sean Sensenig (HS), who went 7 for 11 en route to 14 points in addition to five assists and five steals. The dominant performance gave Sensenig (HS) a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Xavier Young, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.

Despite the defeat, Concord Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Gabriel Franco posted 13 points and three blocks. Franco is crushing it when it comes to blocks: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Geordan Childs was another key player, putting up four points along with six boards and four steals.

Calvary Christian Academy's win ended an eight-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-5. As for Concord Christian Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Calvary Christian Academy has already played their next game (against Faith Baptist School), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Concord Christian Academy will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Fairwinds Christian at 6:15 p.m. on January 28th.
