Basketball Game Preview: Cosby Titans vs. L.C. Bird Skyhawks

Cosby is on a eight-game streak of home wins, while L.C. Bird is on a seven-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Cosby Titans will host the L.C. Bird Skyhawks at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Cosby took a 41-point defeat the last time they faced off against Huguenot, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Cosby never let Huguenot onto the board and left with a 2-0 win on Thursday. The two-point effort marked the Titans' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely L.C. Bird's strategy against Clover Hill on Monday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that L.C. Bird blew Clover Hill out of the water with a 69-23 final score. The Skyhawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 games by 27 points or more this season.

L.C. Bird's win came from a few key players Cosby will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kamari Simon, who almost dropped a double-double with 19 points and nine boards. What's more, she also posted a 73% shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's achieved since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Sasha Hodge, who posted ten points in addition to eight steals and six assists.

L.C. Bird smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 25 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in five consecutive matchups.

Cosby is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.1 points over those games. As for L.C. Bird, their victory bumped their record up to 17-5.

Things could have been worse for Cosby, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 54-37 loss to L.C. Bird in their previous meeting back in January.
