Softball Recap: Franklin Admirals vs. Brentwood Bruins

Suggested Video

Franklin had lost six straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 4-23-1 to make it seven. They fell just short of the Brentwood Bruins by a score of 3-2. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Bruins this season, with their most recent loss being a 10-0 defeat two weeks ago.

As for Brentwood, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games.

For Brentwood's part, Marina Mason spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up 14 Ks. Mason has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in 19 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Brentwood's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Maggie McClendon, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. That stolen base marked the first that McClendon has snagged this season.

As of now, neither Franklin nor Brentwood have any future games scheduled.
