Gavin Rau was a major factor in Valmeyer's win over Dupo on Wednesday. Nobody could stop Rau as he pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Valmeyer is 4-2 when Rau allows one or fewer earned runs, but 6-14 otherwise.

Coming up, Rau and Valmeyer will welcome Gibault Catholic at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Pirates have some work to do to even out the 1-9 series between these two since May of 2021, but a win here would be a good start.
