Recap: Walnut Ridge Scots vs. West Cowboys

There's no place like home for the Walnut Ridge Scots, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Wednesday. They enjoyed a cozy 66-52 victory over West on Friday. Given Walnut Ridge's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 185th, while West is ranked 494th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Walnut Ridge to victory were Marquis Lucas and Deon Johnson. Lucas scored 16 points, while Johnson scored 14 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Johnson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Deyaire Adams, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds.

Walnut Ridge's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-3. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 32.33 points. As for West, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-7.

Walnut Ridge won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Dunbar at 11:30 a.m. on January 13th. Dunbar is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 64.2 points per game. As for West, they will head out on the road to square off against South at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
