Baseball Recap: Columbia Triumphs

With a playoff win on the line, Columbia rose to the challenge on Monday. They never let the Fleming Island Golden Eagles get on the board and left with a 1-0 win. This was payback for the Tigers, who suffered a 4-3 defeat the last time these two teams met.

The result came thanks to Ayden Phillips's shutout, as he gave up just four hits and racked up 11 Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

Columbia's victory bumped their record up to 14-10. As for Fleming Island, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-19.

As of now, neither Columbia nor the Golden Eagles have any future games scheduled.
