While Platte Valley has struggled at home with three straight losses, that wasn't the case on Thursday thanks to Lauryn Uyemura. The Platte Valley Broncos strolled past the Sterling Tigers with points to spare, taking the game 47-31 with plenty of help from Uyemura, who dropped a double-double with 26 points and ten steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 38 games she's played dating back to last season.
The team also got some help courtesy of Addy Grossnickle, who posted seven points and three steals. That's the most points she has posted since back in December of 2023.
Defeat or not, Sterling got some senior leadership from Tatym Dempcy and Kali Graber. Dempcy dropped a double-double with 13 points and 16 rebounds, while Graber put up eight points. That was a full 41.9% of Sterling's points, marking the third time in a row Dempcy has scored more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Kylie Mildenberger, who had two points and five assists.
Platte Valley's win bumped their record up to 15-8. As for Sterling, their loss dropped their record down to 12-11.
The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Platte Valley will face off against Gunnison at 2:30 p.m. on March 7th.
